Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka wants his future resolved before he captains Switzerland at this summer’s European Championships.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine season with Die Borussen, scoring three goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances, and his form has caught the eye of a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Arsenal are one team that have been accredited with an interest in the former Basel player, but Xhaka himself wants his future resolved before the start of this summer’s European Championships in France.

Xhaka said: “I would be happy if everything is resolved before the European Championship. It will be better for me if I go into such a big tournament with no worries in my mind. And for that, it would be good if I know where I will play next season.”

The Swiss captain admits that there are no guarantees that he will leave Stadion im Borussia-Park during the summer, as he has enjoyed four successful seasons with the Bundesliga outfit.

He added: “I owe a lot to Borussia and had so many good years. If I have to leave, I would say a proper goodbye.” Xhaka is expected to play an integral role for Switzerland at this summer’s European Championships, where they will take on hosts France, Albania and Romania in Group A of the competition.

Vladimir Petkovic’s side are available at 5.00 to finish top of the group, while they are on offer at 1.25 to qualify for the knockout stages.
