Wilshere reveals Euro 2016 determination
25/04/2016Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists he is fit and ready to go ahead of Euro 2016 after making his first appearance of the season on Sunday.
Wilshere stepped off the bench in the final moments of his side’s 0-0 draw at Sunderland to give himself a fighting chance of making the England squad this summer.
The Gunners academy product had missed the entire campaign after breaking his leg in pre-season.
The England international was expected to return back months ago, but suffered a setback to extend his spell on the sidelines.
The 24-year-old admitted earlier this year that his only motivation was the European Championship, and Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson has always admitted he would pick him if fit.
Wilshere played three Under-21 matches before the clash with the Black Cats and the Stevenage-born star has admitted he is raring to go ahead of Euro 2016.
“Of course I want to go and be involved. I feel I am ready to push for that place. Now I am on the pitch with the first team, we have three more games left so hopefully I can get more minutes,” he told the Daily Star.
“It was a great feeling. This is what I have worked all year for. It is massive for me.”
On the Sunderland draw, Wilshere added: “When we watch the video back we will think we should have won. We were the better team and played some great stuff leading up to the final third, but I think we should be more clinical.”
