Wales can hurt Belgium – Coleman

Chris Coleman believes his Wales side can hurt Belgium on the counter attack when they clash in the quarter-finals at the European Championships.

Belgium, who are priced at 5.50 to win Euro 2016 outright, put in one of the most eye-catching performances of the tournament so far on Sunday as they ripped apart Hungary to progress to the quarter-finals.

The Red Devils ran out 4-0 winners following an emphatic second-half display, which was the biggest winning margin of any side at the tournament so far.

However, Coleman is not concerned about Wales’ opponents in the next round as both nations look to book their place in the semi-finals.

The Wales boss is hoping Belgium attack his side in the same style and has backed his men to hurt them on the counter attack.

Wales were undefeated in their two clashes with Belgium during qualifying for Euro 2016 after drawing 0-0 in Brussels before Gareth Bale scored to claim a 1-0 triumph on home soil.

Coleman expects his squad should take confidence from their previous meetings and hopes they can keep their incredible journey going.

“We have dealt with it before and we will be up against it,” Coleman said. “We have had to face that quality as they are a top team. We will be the underdogs, but we won’t be fearing Belgium. “When teams go for us and play open, we can do a lot of damage. “People will expect Belgium to win. “They had some criticism coming into the tournament and they lost the first game. “But if you have a squad with that quality then any team you play against, apart from maybe two of three, Belgium are favourites.”
