Pochettino holds no Kane fears

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insists he is not worried about Harry Kane’s potentially gruelling schedule for club and country over the coming months.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed another successful campaign to date for Spurs, scoring 22 goals in 42 appearances for the club in all competitions, as well as featuring in six matches for England as they secured qualification for Euro 2016.

The season shows no signs of letting up for Kane however, as Spurs continue to challenge for glory in both the Premier League and the Europa League, whilst the Three Lions have friendly matches to come against Germany and the Netherlands this month, before the Euros get under way in June.

Pochettino, who raised concerns last season when Kane played in the European Under-21 Championships for England, insists the youngster can cope with the high demands expected of him for both club and country this season.

He said: “I am not worried because last season was worse than this summer. It was hard for him to start the season because he played in the Under-21s in the Euros and he didn’t have much time to rest.

“It was difficult for him, but we never had doubts about his quality. We had to use some weeks of the season to get him in the best condition. But Harry has more experience now and is more mature. I am not more worried than last season.”

Tottenham are currently five points behind league leaders Leicester with just eight matches to play in the Premier League season, and they will be looking to boost their chances of a first league title since 1961 when they take on Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Pochettino’s men are available at 1.53 to win the match, whilst the Cherries are priced at 6.00 and the draw is on offer at 4.33.
