Lewandowski is ‘best striker in the world’ say Bayern

Bayern Munich say striker Robert Lewandowski is the ‘best in the world’ right now and that he will not be leaving the club this summer.

The Poland international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid while the Premier League in England has also been mooted as a potential destination.

He has three years remaining on his current deal at the Bundesliga champions and Bayern technical director Michael Reschke says he will not be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

“He’s going to be playing for Bayern Munich again next season, there’s absolutely no doubt about it,” Reschke told Italy’s Radio CRC. “He still has three years on his contract here and we know that we have the best striker in the world in our squad. That is why there is no chance that he will be sold.”

Lewandowski is currently busy preparing for the Euro 2016 finals in France with his country. Poland will face Germany, Ukraine and Northern Ireland in Group C at the tournament.

Lewandowski was the leading goalscorer during the qualifying phase for the tournament, netting 13 of Poland’s 33 goals as they finished runners-up to the Germans.

Lewandowski is 15.00 to be the leading scorer at Euro 2016. Reschke meanwhile says Bayern are not targeting Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain this summer, despite the fact he rates the Argentine highly.

“Gonzalo Higuain is one of the three or four best strikers in the world, but we’ve got the very best right now with Lewandowski,” he added. “That is why it makes no sense for us or for the player to sign another striker.”
