Lewandowski hoping to punish Germany

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski is confident he can find his form in front of goal against Germany on Thursday night.

The Bayern Munich star was unable to find the back of the net during his side’s first match of Euro 2016 against Northern Ireland.

Poland, 9.00 to reach the semi-finals, eventually secured a 1-0 win against Michael O’Neill’s side but several members of the team including Lewandowski missed crucial chances.

Both teams come into the game with a win, as Germany beat Ukraine 2-0, but Lewandowski insists his side can move to the top of Group C.

The 27-year-old will come up against Bayern team-mate Jerome Boateng and the former Borussia Dortmund star insists he is ready to cause chaos in Joachim Low’s defence.

He told Bild: “I kept my goals for Germany! “In the first game it was difficult. So it would be all the more nice if it will work now [scoring]. But if anybody else scores the winning goal I have no problem if I won’t score again. “It’s a special game, we know each other very well. We have been opponents in the qualifiers. I think nobody has an advantage. But I prepared a little surprise for Jerome Boateng.”

Germany are the 1.53 favourites to win the match, with the draw priced at 4.20, while Poland can be backed at 6.50.
