Klopp talks up duo’s chances

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident that both Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson will be fit enough to play in every England match at this summer’s European Championships.

Sturridge, priced at 8.00 to be England’s top scorer at Euro 2016, endured a miserable start to the campaign as he battled a number of injuries but the former Chelsea and Manchester City star now appears to have recovered fully.

Klopp has refused to rush him back and has continuously rested him despite his form in front of goal for the Reds.

He started successive games against Swansea and Villarreal last week but he was then rested for the 2-0 win over Watford on Sunday.

The 26-year-old is currently competing with the likes of Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney for a starting spot at Euro 2016 and Klopp is adamant he will be fit.

The German also believes Jordan Henderson will prove his fitness as he continues to overcome a knee injury he picked up in the Europa League.

“With Sturridge I am pretty sure everyone liked what we did, with him playing here and resting there,” Klopp is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I think it’s the most consistent he’s been fit since I’ve been here. He’s at a high level from the first to last minute so yes, of course he will be ready for the European Championships.

“With Henderson, it’s only nine days until the final so it’s not sure that he will play our game, because it’s a short time. But 100 per cent he will be fit for the Euros.”
