Debuchy cool on France chance

Mathieu Debuchy says he is keeping cool about his chances of playing for France at Euro 2016 after limited game time this season.

The right-back failed to dislodge youngster Hector Bellerin at Arsenal in the first half of the campaign and as a result moved on loan to Bordeaux in January.

He appears to have fallen out of favour with Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps, who favoured Lyon’s Christophe Jallet and Manchester City’s Bacary Sagna in his squad for March’s friendlies against the Netherlands and Russia.

With Deschamps yet to announce his squad for the upcoming tournament on home soil, there remains plenty of intrigue surrounding who he will select.

Debuchy was first choice at the 2014 World Cup and the lack of options available to the coach could persuade him to return to his former favourite.

The 30-year-old admits he is unsure on his chances of earning a place and although he insists he is ready to go if called on, the Gunners defender says he will move on if he misses out.

“I will calmly wait for the choice of the coach, we’ll see,” he told L’Equipe. “If I am selected, it will bring me great pride. I will be very happy.

“If I am not there, I will go on holiday with my family. I feel good mentally.” France are the current 4.00 favourites to win Euro 2016 with Germany second in the betting at 4.50.

Les Bleus will first have to get through Group A against Romania, Albania and Switzerland. They are currently 1.33 to top the group ahead of the Swiss who are priced at 5.00.
